Pulled up outside his house at 6.40am and left at 6.46am.
Got a text at 6.53am asking if I was having problems finding the house as it's a new housing estate.
I replied that I had been and gone.
He then replied I must have been at the wrong house as he was stood outside waiting for me.
Well it's the same f****ng house I dropped him off at 3 months ago.
My impression is that the apprentices don't reduce your workload significantly, compared to the effort involved in dealing with them?

Just lost a 4th year that was as much use as a 1st year (he did not do 4 years with us).
Got another 4th year just as bad (only been with us 8 months)
Got a newly qualified 5th year that is as good as me on new builds and commercial installations - actually he is probably better than me at them IMHO.
He just needs to learn a little more on the older electrics/installations that he might come across and I will have done my job.
Well I do have one[1]. But it's much easier than that.
The van tracker logs every ignition on/off start time and knows where I am. I turned the engine off when I got there and turned it on when I left.
Oddly enough it was outside his house:-)
[1] Used against the other little s*it who was late as that van had no tracker. Our dash cams can have their time altered and only run on an internal clock not a GPS clock, but the 7.00am Radio Two news is broadcast at what time?

Is it because many of those that do, need 5 years to learn something that most people could in 5 months (or less) ?.
Traditionally an apprenticeship took 7 years. But maybe that was because the tradesmen used apprentices as cheap labour - the apprentice (or his family) had to pay.

One notifiable install and a separate non-notifiable work would have got me into NIC.

Bear in mind Adam's apprentices are starting from the "this is a screwdriver. It has two ends." level of competence.
I woudln't be surprised if some of them turn up for interview wearing velcro'd trainers and have to be gently introduced to shoelaces.

He is a 5th year now as it's end of 4th year. So bang on time getting his AM2 at the end of his 4th year. They spend three years at college and a year fully on site before taking their AM2.
well yes, so was I in my job
but I did that at full wages, not as a 20 pounds a week apprentice.
Surely becoming significantly competent to be let out on you own to do bog standard stuff can't take more than 2 years
NMW/NLW if past their first year and aged 19+ so for 35 hours minimum from £229.60 to £292.60 at 21 to £311.85 at 23.
Bit beyond the £4-8s I got for 37.5 hours!
What's wrong with velcroed trainers, i wear them myself.
They are much better than laced ones. IMHO
