Following on from the recent discussion about making life a bit easier as we age I got myself a 9" high footstool from Amazon, thinking being it would help me get out of the bath which is sometimes a struggle.
It's a folding stool and the first time I used it it collapsed when I picked it up and it was a right faff. I got some plastic glue and applied it to the hinges but it didn't seem very strong so in the end I put 2 x brass screws through each end of the hinge and it seemed nice and sturdy.
Tried it out this morning. It stayed fixed but unknown to me it turned over as I put it in the bath and as I went to sit on it one of the legs started to insert itself in a somewhat delicate place. I think I set a world record for getting out of the bath, and I didn't need the stool!
Incidentally, I gave up smoking 12 years and 2 months ago and just worked out that at today's prices I have saved about £77,000 (20 a day). Accepting that prices have gone up substantially it's still a lot of money. Can anybody tell me which account it is in please?
