Adjusting UPVC door

One of my UPVC doors needs adjustment as the spigots of the Espagnol locking system are catching on the vertical lip of the receptacles for them.

There does not appear to be any adjustment possible of the catch plate nor the locking mechanism other than the spigots which appear to be able to be rotated eccentrically, but already seem at their highest setting offering no further adjustment.



I was wondering if any adjustment can be made with the hinges as I suspect there is some contact of the bottom edge of the door, however I am not familiar with the type of hinges.

From the internal view you can see two Phillips screws and in the centre a small Allen grub screw. On the external view the two grey dots seem to be just plastic plugs.



Before I start tinkering with the system does anyone have any experience of these hinges or am I looking at the wrong end?

There are other Youtube videos showing other hinge adjustments (search for DG hinge adjust)

I had a door with hinges that look like yours I had to move the top of the door to the right BUT found that I also had the move the bottom and middle hinges to the left to achieve the desired movement. Little adjustments of all three hinges at a time.

I also found that marking the original position of the door on the frame to be helpful for judging the subsequent movement. I just traced the corner and edge with a feint pencil line.

My hinges (chunkier trojan flag hinges) have multiple adustments on the same screw, e.g. a single rotation will pull the door in an direction and back in a eccentric cam, but over the course ov several rotations it will lift or drop the door.

suggest mark position with a felt tip, and have a play with screwdriver/allen key.

Thanks Alan for a moment I thought I had cracked it but on removing the black end caps did not reveal a screw of any sort for up down adjustment. The only adjustment it seems is the two screw visible on the internal view which the presenter claims are for adjusting the in/out.

I have another look at the catch plate and there are two eccentric adjustments at the top and bottom

As you can see there are four fixing screws in the photo and 15 in total over the full length of the catch plate fixing it either directly to the UPVC frame or maybe a back plate but they do not seem to allow any adjustment.

Had a bit of a play with the hinges. There are four in total, the top two the there is no movement when adjusting the screws. The bottom two did have some adjustment and turning them clockwise slightly pushed the door away from the frame in effect twisting the door in its frame and that has had the effect of raising the spigots slightly so they slide over the lip of their respective receptacles but that is all the adjustment possible now and the door is closing better but for how long?
