The part I like about the Internet, is a site can tell you how to block adverts, while... showering you with adverts. Isn't hypocrisy great ? How many adverts you see on this site, depends on your browser. Try Seamonkey for example (

In theory, it should be possible for a browser to no indicate its blocking adverts, it could just throw them away. Of course I'm all for things being free, and do not mind adverts if this is how to keep it free, what annoys me as a blind person is that some site is designed with accessibility in mind, then to fund it the adverts are not only inaccessible but screw up the layout of the page losing the accessibility. If we hold sites to standards of accessibility, then those writing the in line adverts should have to do the same. There are a lot of sites struggling to keep going due to the rising costs of being online, and so they use adverts to fund it. If every site you signed into had a subscription to pay, what then? We would be back to the old days of Prestel (I'll let you look it up) in which pages of info had a charge when displayed obtained through your subscription to the online service via a dial up modem. CIX and Compuserve had similar models, but based on time and data while you were connected. So be careful what you wish for. The money tree does not exist, but I do feel that adverts are here to stay, they could just be more inclusive. Brian

Use two, or more, browsers. One that logs into Google and does your Google stuff, if required. Have another browser that deletes all cookies on exit, and never logs into Google in the first place.

Open youtube in a private window, reject all cookies, and it seems to stop it whinging. Adblock etc will still do its job in that window.

(in firefox at least - other browsers that run on a codebase maintained by google may get different results)

I simply sit with my finger hovering over the skip advert button. I mentally switch off to the content being spread across the screen. Any that do register go into my mental irritating crap to avoid file in my head
