Actual moles, not mole grips

No shotguns, then?

Not having had moles, I've not tried this, but bottles buried in the garden with the neck sticking out are supposed to work. The idea is that wind blowing across the neck creates vibrations that stop the mole from hearing its prey, so they move out of range. I believe you need several bottles around the garden.

You are wasting your time.

Get a non-lethal mole trap and dig it into the run but wear gloves and don't touch the trap with your bare hands (the moles are nearly blind but have a highly developed sense of smell).

You can try relocation although there is some risk to the Mole.

Wait until you see fresh soil being pushed through the *hill*. The idea is to spike a garden fork below where the Mole is pushing from and lift him out. (8.00am 2.00pm common digging times)

Pick up carefully! They don't see too well but there is nothing blunt about their teeth. Grab round the shoulders leaving the head and neck protruding between your thumb and forefinger.

Relocate. Please don't bring them here.

How can you tell where the mole is pushing from? All you see is a bit of fresh soil near the top of the hill. IME it doesn't indicate where the actual mole is. Or is he directly underneath?

You need to be extremely quiet. May pay to watch several disposals to get an idea when the Mole is likely to be nearest to the surface. Roughly every 2 minutes.

My Dobermann picked a mole up and carried it home in his mouth many years ago, I think the mole died of heart failure.

You need to know where the mole is at the time. I think everyone should listen to Jasper Carrots piece on moles which though funny does have some basis in truth, according to him in an interview. I don't know if moles are a protected species or if you find one it may be there are more, ie a family Do any of your neighbours have them? Brian

From what I read, they are solitary creatures, and there's probably just the one doing all the damage.

My neighbours are rather smug about the amount of mole repellent they are putting down, so as to keep the mole on my lawn. I just think it's about time that the pain is shared more equally.

He might get run over, or become lunch for a stoat when he tries to follow you :-)
