The old caravan we moved from Bristol to Yorkshire

And many thanks for the advice given on this group about towing an old beast.

It has now been restored.

It made it's first show appearance at Newark Retro festival last weekend.

Excellent. Problem with older vans is they tend to be rather heavy for modern cars?

I'm quite surprised, as I thought that cars had generally got larger over the years.

My father had an Austin A55, which was quite a large car for its day, and weighed 1.1 tonnes. I doubt that there are many cars under 1.1 tonnes these days?

My Volvo C70 weighs 50% more and has 4 times the power.

The Yaris and i20 both weigh the same as the A55, and they are more powerful.

Ah, so I can blame you for the traffic jam leading to the showground?

No. Blame her and her stupid friend.

I was in Doncaster Royal Infirmary underground car park getting overtime to swap a few lights.

I was told that one was so light a 1.3 VH Viva could tow it.

And they might try it next year if the Viva gets a tow bar.

I am told it was a originally a BBC van, sold on and used as a works van and then converted back to a BBC van for classic vehicle shows.

Judging by the camera, I'd say quite a bit before my time at the BBC. I'd guess 50s.

Quite a few have restored old BBC vehicles and show them. They must have very deep pockets, as well as space to store them. Although they can earn when hired as props for period dramas, etc.

Mention of the BBC reminds me. One of my former students wnet to work at the BBC when he graduated. He has just basically retired (a Head of Production Architecture, whatever that is).

This makes me feel really old.

Yep, there's a picture of it in that guise from 1957:

camera is a mockup)

This one was rebuilt from being a coal merchant's flatbed, so I dread to think how much money and effort that was.
