Powell was never knighted or ennobled, though he did gain an MBE. His full title, taking into account all of his entitlements, would therefore have been "Brigadier Professor John Enoch Powell, MBE".

He was appointed to the chair of Greek at Sydney University during the second half of the 1930s but left the post in 1939 to take up another professorship in England. At the outbreak of WW2 he joined the British Army as a private soldier. He gained promotion in steps and was eventually a Brigadier.

I wonder how many others could ever point to a career like that?

Of course, he was also entitled to "MP" (though only whilst a member), but as a former Minister of the Crown, to "Right Honourable" for life.
