2-port valve??

Oct 14, 2003 3 Replies

How much can I expect to pay for 2-port motorised valves, which are more reliable than the other and what is this thing about motor on and spring return against motor in both directions?? How do monitor the temp in a bathroom to operate a motorised valve?

Also what is the normal size of a cold water main in the blue plastic pipe is it 20mm or 25mm at what point does this change is it on the length of run? Rich

Hi Rich,

Have a look here:

choose the plumbing link on the menu on the left hand side of the page.

£35+, all very similar, but go for a 'brand' so it can be fixed in years to come; i.e. Honeywell, Danfoss, Invensys

With a thermostat??? Either digital £25+ or manual £6. For saftey you could use a wireless/battery 'stat £80+.

25mm for a house supply, water meters are fitted with 25mm tails; 20mm is often only used for sub-distribution. Can be run under floor up to the stopcock and beyond. May change to copper as soon as it enters the property in some installations. No need to change down a size over a long length, easier to do the whole run in 25mm, and it provides a better flow rate 25mm x 50m =£15

Yes thanks very much for the information will now get on to it. Rich
