10 mm pipe

Unroll and whilst under tension use a leather glove to pull/slide along it to help.

You can only buy 10mm copper pipe in coils. I've always had a problem straightening them out properly. Any tips?

Cheers, Mark M/cr

Coiled pipe (and wire) should be unwound. Get someone to hold one end still, then walk away from them unrolling the pipe off the coil.

Do not pull the pipe sideways off the reel because that leaves the pipe in bent shape, and removal of those bends in the pipe will take forever - if you can ever manage it!

No, except prayer.

If you do find any miracles with this, please share it with us. :((

Care is the key. A mini bender is also well useful but need to have some of its paint stripped off since the 10mm formers are otherwise too tight.

If you can't afford a fresh piece and it gets hard you'll have to anneal it. Heat it up till it glows (at least a bit) and then remove the heat it will of course discolour.

============== It helps if you slide an external spring over the pipe and straighten the pipe as you slide the spring along the pipe. It's not perfect but it's quite effective.

Hi,

Stretching the pipe slightly will straighten it out properly, works well for copper wire.

cheers, Pete.
