what is the best way to keep a washer drain clear? about every 2 or 3 years the washer drain becomes blocked and have to call a plumber. wife fills washer with hot water about once a week and lets it drain but still about every 2 or 3 years it gets stopped up. can you use a gell like liquid plumber every few months to prevent this? any one brand better than the other. washer is in the kitchen in a closet. house built on a slab. it really makes a mess. thanks

Sounds like the drain is wrong. A 2" standpipe on a 2" P-trap will rarely give trouble. It may behoove you to bust up the floor and set things aright.

Does she have filter on the end of the drain hose ? Some women use a nylon stocking for that, works good. You clean out the drier filter, see all that stuff ? ( if you don't clean it, expect a fire)
