smithsonian boarding job

for those of you in the midlantic who don't get the AOS mag, the smithsonian orchid collection is getting kicked out of their greenhouses in october. they're looking for people to babysit their orchids until the new GH is ready, sometime in '08. they'd prefer to keep the various sub groups together (the example used was 150 species of bulbos. now WHY on earth would anyone want 150 species of bulbos? ! ;-) even when they put bulbos in the annual orchid show, they keep them in glass cases (thank the flying spaghetti monster...)

anyway, i can dig out the email of the guy in charge if anyone wants it.

That is too funny. What are they thinking? I have never met an orchid grower who said "oh yeah, I built this greenhouse and can't find enough plants to fill it up!"

Most of us complain we don't have enough space for the things we already have.

can i be blamed for it not ocurring to me that maybe the AOS has a sense of humor?? ;)

(besides, it's not like orchid greenhouses *haven't* been torn down for housing developments around here-- kensington orchids, anyone?)

It's not the AOS that has a sense of humor....Just Tom Miranda....He is a real hoot!
