so i've got this phrag katahdin sunset which bloomed last year and grew
2 new fans of leaves and one of *them* is sprouting two new little fans---but the leaves of the original plant (got it as a seedling) are turning brown progressively down the leaves. at this rate i'll lose the whole fan in another 6 mos or so. the newer fans are getting the occasional brown leaf tip.
too much water? not enough? fertilizer burn? plant is in a 2 x 2 x 4 growers pot in very fine bark and sits in a puddle of water in its saucer (as suggested by woodside, from whom i bought it).
thoughts appreciated.
and entirely random--put the sharry baby in S/H this morning. turned out it had more roots than i thought it did; should be interesting to see what it does.
was in home despot for something else and stopped to look at the orchids, as i always do, and what did they have but these really nice deep fuschia/red DTPs'---in semi hydro already. basically an aircone pot inside a completely closed plastic pot, with a little bobbly water gage. tag had a website that leads back to grower ron. pretty cool. couldn't resist. i don't have space for this..... -sigh-
