Yes, I had the same and works great in the house. However, I also ran a steam plant with a couple of boilers. It does not work the way you think it does. I've also been in large power plants running steam boilers for electricity.

No you haven't. maintaining 200 psi is easy with out any insulation . any tractor tyre can do it.

You have no idea about the underlying physics of anything. You just know what your limited experience made you *think* was the case.

200 psi was for very old piston engines. Serious turbines run more like 2000 psi and over 1000 deg F.

But 200 PSI is an interesting pressure for a tractor tire. Mid-20s is more common.

So what is the temperature range of that tractor tyre? What is the pressure difference as temperature changes? They do lose pressure as the temperature drops, physics at work.

If you had tire pressure monitors on a very cold morning you would learn a bit about the ideal gas law.

My assertion is that with perfect insulation, it takes none, and in the real world it doesn't take a lot.

Heat loss from large structures is far far slower than smaller ones anyone who stops to think about a tank of hot water versus a teaspoon of it will know.

And red herrings about pressure are irrelevant, Pressure can be maintained forever inside a sealed enclosure.

The issue is simple. How much heatloss is there from a well designed well insulated steam boiler at 600°C and therefore how much energy does it take to keep it there?

But the pressure is variable with temperature change. In cold weather my tire pressure can drop 3 psi overnight. It will also increase as I drive, especially in hot weather and a 5 psi increase is common.

Firestone says not to exceed 35 psi. to set the beads on farm tractor tires. I remember the techs adding calcium to give them more weight about a half century ago. Now the emphasis seems to be on traction plus soil compaction.

Sorry, but my brain instantly range-checks numbers. Newspapers and web sites are annoying because journalists always mess up numbers. They freely interchange million and billion and trillion, as a certain President constantly does.

The rough range checking is good in engineering, to estimate, say, temperature rise of a pullup resistor. 5 volts, 1K, don't even think about it.

The sensors themselves tend to fail when they get old and cold. That's probably the cause of most warnings on cold mornings. I'd expect that tire pressure doesn't change much on cold days: we're pretty far away from absolute zero.
