Water is heard running in bathrooms in the back of the house

Water is only heard when the water heater is heating water , which is often. Water bill has increased about double the normal amount. This is a gas water heater.

Where is the water heater? Is there an expansion tank on it? If it becomes waterlogged and the water cannot expand when heated, it can be forced ou the safety valve. Is the safety plumbed into a drain? If you cannot see the water, feel the tubing on the exit to see if it is hot.

use the hairdryer trick
