"Spicket" is named for Edward R Spickman (1871-1944), a plumber who wished he had invented something important, although he didn't :-)

Since your water is now filtered, presumably a new filter in the 'fridge will never clog. Might be cheaper and easier than trying to find a plug.

Also depends on the filtration. The whole house may be for particulate but not taste. I'd still keep the fridge filter.

Interesting question. Is there any downside to that? I agree the filter should never clog. But can anything else happen? I think they are just filters with maybe charcoal? added? Only possible issue I can think of is if it's left there indefinitely can some bacteria start to grow on it? I've never been in a rush to change the one here when the light says it's time and the water and ice taste OK to me. But then so does the tap water.
