New home, gonna replace shower, tub, rock, tile .... I want to buy shower tub faucet. I also want to replace the main valve that is in the wall. What is that called and is it part of the tub and shower faucet package.
I will have it installed right, I just want to have compatible components.
Before you start do a whole lot of research. Get catalogs from major suppliers (Kohler is especially good, beautiful stuff, fit for lottery winners) and study the offerings. Most will show complete bathrooms with listings of all the components. Be prepared to spend about twice what yoiu think it will cost...(been there, done that). The tub/shower faucet control assemblies may be separate from the doodad behind the wall, because that assembly may control and limit water temperature. The one I got for my last project was a single control radar guided top of the line that did serious damage to a $200 bill. But she was happy with it and that's all that counts in many households.YMMV.
