The upfitters disable the back handles and install cages. They also install special seat belts for the back seat riders.

Cops don't get in patrol vehicles they use the other part of the fleet.

There are many modifications for police vehicles most of which are unseen.

Many police cars have a cage. Safer that way.

Most cars since the early 1980s have them. I know my last 8 cars had them.

MOST PDs have a "protection device" - usually heavy Lexan, between the drivers' compartment and the "prisoner containment unit" (AKA Back seat)

Can you name a couple of year/make/models that had that feature?

And all plastic seats that can be hosed out to remove blood, vomit, urine and feces.

Let's make sure that we are talking about the same thing.

On page 2-9 of the owners manual for a 2001Buick LeSabre they show the lever for the Rear Door Security Lock. That's just a lever and requires no screwdriver or key. That is the mechanism that I believe most of us are familiar with. (at least me)

On page 3-14 of the owners manual for a 2018 Genesis G80 they show the child-protector rear door lock cam(?) which *does* require a screwdriver.

Are you saying that all of the vehicles on your list had a tool-required locking system?

I wasn't asking Steve Walker (or you) about which vehicles had a method for disabling the rear door handles. I was specifically asking about the type that required the turning of a cam with a screwdriver or key.

Does your list become any shorter when answering that question?

Now just about all cars with central locking - and particularly keyless entry - have options to lock the rear doors when in motion

And many (most?) still have some version of the tool-less mechanical lock.

I did not take your question that way. Most had a lever as you menetion. Quite common.

Yes there is a screen behind the front seats. Lately there have also been bars installed to prevent kicking the rear window out.

I have a friend who gave me an explanation for this. He likes Audi saloons. Apparently they're quieter. I've never noticed. But he does have OCD.

You know that much larger door at the back that lifts up? That's where you insert the luggage. I've put a full sized fridge-freezer in mine.
