I may not be correct as I heard it on the news but I do not think you are correct either. It may have been stopped on a long form in 2000. What is foolish, is not to include it.

When you are talking about presidential elections "representation" is more important than "voters". If California gets another EC vote that goes directly into determining who the president is and you are right that is also another congressman.

No, that's not how it works. You need a good reason for each question. In practice, a mediocre reason might be enough if no one objects to the question.

That might have the form of a reason - it starts with "because" but it's not a good or even a mediocre reason. In fact so it's not a reason at all. Writing in the form of a reason doesn't make something a reason, so when the law requires a reason, it means a fairly good one whether it says so or not.

If Obama was president in 1950 when the question was removed from the census, then, yes.

In 1970 it was added back to the long form but not the short form. By 2010, the census was simplified, and all the detailed questions were transferred to the American Community Survey.

Good question, for which I don't have a good answer. On the face of it, you're right. But those people are there and most of them make a positive contribution to the areas in which they live. Other criminals are counted for representation. Why should illegal aliens be different, just because of the nature of their crime?

Good luck on getting it changed. I don't see any constitutional amendment going through given the current state of the country.

So, stop paying attention to Fox, and actually do some research. You must have a local public library that will have copies of all the Census forms for the last 100 years. Or you can find them on-line.

The long form has always had a question for birthplace, perhaps that's what your "news" program was referring to.
