Who the hell would pay $45K for a riding mower that wouldn't last the work day without being recharged?

Not really. Not serious. I actually bought my < gasoline > zero-turn a few years ago - the choice of battery-powered riders was dismal at that time - a cheapo tractor style Cub Cadet at the tractor dealer or a cheapo zero-turn Ryobi at Home Depot - with a 1-year battery warranty .. sheesh. John T.

For that price, it better be a Deere, Kubota or Ariens.

The local dealer is having " demonstration day " in a couple weeks but I doubt that this model will be there .. I'll go for the pancakes and door prize draws .. :-) John T.

In the last few years there is a lot that competes favorably with Deere and Ariens, particularlyu in the ZT market. With Deere that green paint is VERY EXPENSIVE - just like with Festool - - -

My "lawn mower" cost me 25 bucks a few years ago ... of course I've put probably a thousand or more into it over the years , but I ain't complaining . My mower is a 1982 year model John Deere 317 yard tractor , and it also plows snow with the front blade . Gotta take a few minutes and sharpen the blades and get the mower deck remounted for summer . I take it off in winter because it's wider than the front blade (when it's angled) and drags in the snow .

I have 2 lawn mowers. My 1961 Yazoo cost me $15 at a yard sale in Windsor when I was visiting my inlaws - back in about 1985. I have replaced the engine, belts, blades, chain, one set of used 20 inch bicycle tires (and a set of rims to convert to metric tires) and a chunck of stainless steel sheet salvaged from an old kitchen counter to replace the deck. Total less than $300. I use it for my regular lawn mowing The second one is a 1957 Lawn King with an old Lauson engine - original - I have replaced the points and condenser - got it free when a neighbor moved away and gave it to me. I don't use it much

It appears you like the old stuff as much as I do . Times were simpler then , and so was the machinery . My neighbor is looking for a small tractor , I'm trying to hook him up with a guy on the Yanmar email list that has a YM1600 (late 1970's I think) with attachments for sale .

Next door to them. Their flyer says that they will have a web site, soon .. :-)

Better yet an old MF35 Perkins - or a Ford 8N - or a 770 David Brown.
