OT Health Insurance and telemarketers (2025 Update)

Just got a call from a telemarketer telling me they have health insurance in my are. Press 2 to speak to an agent.

So the agent gets on the line and asks if it is individual or family. I tell him it is family. Then asked if it was me and my wife. I explained, not exactly. It is me and my not born yet child. I want him covered. My girlfriend is pregnant with my baby and her husband does not have insurance so can you cover her too?

We got disconnected.

Seems like a lot of telemarketers hang up on me and I don't know why. Some seem nice enough and ask "how are you?" They ask so I take the time to tell them. Woke up this morning with a stomach ache and now I got the s**ts. Every 20 minutes I gotta s*it. Didn't make it one time and s*it my pants.

Another one I get is asking me if I have pain and Medicare will send me a brace. Well I do have pain. Got hemorrhoids and it hurts every time I take a dump. Have anything that helps? My ass is really sore.

Others want to fix my computer. They lead me through a series of steps and what to type. Then they ask what I see on the screen. I exclaim "thank you, it is a p*rn movies and your sister is sucking a big dck" \

You'd think by now they would have a "do not call this asshole list" and pass over me.

If he only makes 10 cents an hour and I waste a nickel of it, it makes me feel better and hurts him more than just telling him to perform an unnatural act and hanging up. The reality is these guys probably get paid by the "sale" not by the hour. Hanging up on the robot is free to them but tying up an operator costs them time and money

[snip]

It used to be illegal if a telemarketer called an emergency number. If that was still true, it would seem they'd need some sort of list.
