Seems like that may have cost him more than replacing the batteries, but I'm sure money wasn't the motive.
Helicopters, multiple HD cameras, boom lifts, permits, explosive experts, clean up, etc. Yeah, there were volunteers, but I'm pretty sure there were some pretty hefty expenditures involved.
