OT checkilng luggage atht the plane's door

OT It seems there are 3 ways people check suitcases too big for theairplane's overhead or under seat. At the entrance to the airport, if the airline has that. At the ticket counter. Or at the gate, the entrance to the plane. Do you know anything about using the last method? All airlines permitit? It seems like it would save time, not waiting in line at the ticketcounter, and it would involve less tossing around of the suitcase. Yes?I thought I heard a stewardess say that if you checked your bag at theplane's entrance, you could pick it up at the same place, yes? I wouldhave thought they'd toss it on one of the big luggage trucks, then tossit on the conveyor belt leading to the carousel, but I'd be happy toavoid all that tossing

That's what I presumed too and I think the general agreement is that you can't. Imagine what it would be like at TSA and the gate if they allowed it. Loading a plane with 250 passengers, 50 show up with suitcases to check at the gate.

But...but...but...micky said he is already at the gate with his bag, something we apparently should have known. TSA (allegedly) let him through, something else we should have apparently known.
