old 3 control of shower

I have a tub that also has a shower that contains the old 3 knobs for hot, cold and diverter. Its at shoulder level and unfortunately when one uses the tub instead of shower, one has to get up from a slippery tub to shut or get more hot water. Now, for a senior that makes it difficult and the possibility of an accident from slipping. Does anyone know if there is such a gadget that can attach to the hot and cold valves and stay at tub level? One can add or shut water a lot easier and safer. Today they have the sense enough to put those valves just above the tub, easier to use.

Your tub water valve setup is rather bizarre. If there is no rational reason for this location, the most cost effective change would be to simply replace the whole system with new controls in a better position. You also could leave the present valving in place and add a new parallel control set at the tub side. There is no rule that says tub faucets and outlet must be at an end. HTH

Except where the side is an outside wall and you have cold winters
