Can you move a boat while standing on it without touching the water? Consider friction. Think about the same on something with wheels, or a piece of furniture without.

Raise a sail.
With the boat backed against a dock, run forward throwing yourself onto the deck of the boat.
Install a jet or rocket engine.
Install an engine driven air propeller.
Install a 20 mm gatling gun on the back of the boat.
Piss off a whale or other large marine animal.
Throw stuff off the back of the boat. Concider using a sling shot made from truck tires and bowling balls.
Cola and mentos powered rocket engine? Flee...

Use an asymmetric horizontal momentum generator.
Would not go far or fast
Well you could mount a jetengine on the back I suppose. Also if you had a big enough sail......

Maybe one of those bi carb powered boat might work on a larger standard of course. You yourself are not touching the water when the reaction happens after all. More to the point. You are in a space suit in earth orbit, so in free fall, and your ship is out of reach a few yards away. Is there any way to get to it? Brian

The airboats I've actually seen were made for one or two people out on a nice sunny day.
You will not be touching the water if standing on the deck of a floating boat.

Argh! I meant by running along it. Now if you stood on a large piece of wood on your lounge carpet, you could accelerate yourself slowly then stop suddenly. Only the sudden stop would overcome the static friction and move the wood. But can you do this in water? It certainly wouldn't work in space.
