Insta flame gas fireplace

Easy to lite pilot lite,it stays lit but when I turn thermostat up no fire in log area .But if I tap gas valve with screwdriver it fires and looks great. Please help if you know what I might need to do,Thanks Paul

You "might" have a spider web/cacoon in your gas intake. Was told that, laughed, and it turned out to be true in my case.
