Well, the old farts who remain on Usenet don't have anything to talk about that's on topic. They don't do much home repair anymore, but they do watch Faux Noise (and worse).

The last home repair I did was on my mother's dishwasher two days ago. She'd managed to disengage one of clips on the top-rack slide that prevents the rack from being pulled entirely out.

No idea how she managed that; she's barely strong enough to pull a dinner roll in half. Maybe she fell against it. I know if I asked her, she wouldn't remember.

It's ok. Some of us have an intuitive knowledge of English that allows us to parse your meaning. And the good manners not to draw attention to a typo.

I generally only mention typos when they produce a funny result. For example, leaving the 'f' out of "shift".

Yes, sad to see and that applies to most of usenet groups.

Does reinstalling and upgrading the pump in my irrigation well count as "home repair" hammy ? Maybe building an 8 x 8 deck style front porch ?

Snag I appreciated foreign cultures more when they stayed foreign ...

Last week I had to replace the 3-speed fan/light remote control on a 20-year-old Harbor Breeze ceiling fan from Lowes Depot.

When I was done, I took a nap.

Submersible irrigation pumps are a PITA, but what can be even worse is the linkage of the fill valve float stop. Always seems to rust out or get corroded and break.

This is a simple system , a 6" well casing with a 1 hp pump set at around 42 feet for watering my garden and a sprayer to help cool my steel roof on my shop . I have been running it throttled way back which has caused some problems from excessive pressure . I'm recirculating part of the output back into the well to relieve the pressure which has stirred up more silt/sand . Hopefully that will settle out in a few hours of operation .

The group seems to have been infested with political, godless trolls.

Way more robust than a landscape pond pump, carry on then!

Answer seems to be keeping the feedback line higher than the base.
