The kid uses this tablet almost all the time.
Wired or bluetooth?
If bluetooth, the batteries should be rechargeable.
Any recommendations for decent (ok?) headphones at a less than $50 price?

First question is what type? They range from over the ear to ear buds. Which depends on where they will be used. If it's for home use and audio quality is the primary concern, then over the ear or on the ear. If they have to be portable, then it's earbuds. That starts to at least narrow it down. Another big factor is price range.
