Glue for vinyl siding patch

Oct 27, 2004 5 Replies

I was trying to patch some holes in my vinyl siding. I thought PVC plumbing glue should work, so I used the cleaner and then the glue for PVC pipe, but it doesn't bond the pieces together, I tried CPVC also and it did not bond. I've researched this some and I don't find any glue specifically for vinyl siding. Anyone know what will work?

You may try silicone, but remember, the stuff moves with the changes in temperature and you have have problems with it.

For small patches just use plain old contact cement, it works great! If you have a small hole just cut a piece of siding a bit bigger and put the cement on both the siding and the patch, let dry a few minutes, and then put it in place.

Andersen Windows company makes a vinyl cement but they also say that swimming pool vinyl liner cement works fine. Should be labled vinyl to vinyl cement.
