Get car checked out by mechanic before buying it

Been there, done that. Weirdest thing I ran into was on a '59 Buick 225. The pulley with the timing marks had an elastomer coupling to the actual driven hub, supposedly for vibration dampening. Throw a timing light on and rev the engine to see the advance and the pulley would rotate relative to the crank. Go back to idle and the mark would be way off.

That was common here on some GM products too, usually triggered by a leaking timing cover seal that allowed oil onto the harmonic damper which, in turn, rotted it out.

Wow, of course most cars use metal straps.

The crowning example was taking $135 mil from foreigners who needed state dept approval to sell 20% of US uranium capacity to RUSSIA. And by defending the likes of that, while jumping on Republicans, that's why it's clear you do put party over country. Any decent American would take one look at that stinking pile of s*it and say that we need laws to make sure it never happens again. But heh, Trump rents a room for $400 a night, the going rate at one of his properties to some foreigner, and well, that you'd tell us is the worst thing ever.
