Cannot remove old shower head from pipe

I tend to doubt that it was tried to full force. The usual problem is that the pipe has a chrome finish, so you can't put a real pipe wrench on it or you will destroy the finish. But in any case, if the shower head won't come off the pipe, how about unscewing the pipe from the fitting in the wall? That would be my last choice, but if that's where you are, then it's an option.

I have run into this problem many times. In all cases, the pipe was replac ed as well. These run around $7, so I don't waste time trying to save it. Remove the short pipe and replace it with a new one. I would expect that t he pipe is likely to break next anyway.
