Bank lobbies re-opening?

I have a VoIP phone with cable and had one with Verizon. Verizon had replaced copper several years ago with fiber. Pissed me off because they charged old land line prices and I needed a long distance provider. Only reason I kept it was because a consulting client paid for it. When he no longer needed my services I cancelled the line.

I don't know about the president but a bank manager can see a lot of stuff on her computer and reconstruct a screw up, usually fixing it right there. That and a smile make an occasional visit to the bank worth doing. I think they call that networking.

I do not go to a bank to socialize, mainly to do bank business.

Maybe socialize is the wrong term.

Maybe have human interaction would be better.

I used to go to church services and teach.

Have not been able to do either for over 3 months because of covid.

Online services is ok, but no substitute to live interaction.

Computer and phone do everything I need to transfer between banks, deposit checks. My income sources have been direct deposit for years.

I don't bother with it. Before I get done with the transaction I get a text and I use that as a reminder to deduct it.

Main office (it is, of course locally-owned, none of the mega-banks, thank you) is just on the north end of town; we're a few miles out. There are two drive-thru's one about in middle of town and another on south side.

I'm in the main lobby regularly if for no other reason to hang out for a few minutes with Mark and a couple of the others I know well...being on the farm most of the time, the occasional visit is always welcome.

If that's all you use a bank for, then that's probably enough. Business/farm banking is a different animal than just consumer checking.

I have done that with everything from the mortgage on the house to the entire purchase of the most recent car, new.

Pretty much, just not anymore anywhere. I have an old school land line but that still goes up on fiber about a half mile away. It allows DSL but the downside is that fiber box is on utility power. The battery seems to last about 30 hours which gets you over most power failures but if the power is out for days, you are down until the Telco drops a generator there. It took them about 4 days to do that after Irma. There were some people with generators who figured this out and dragged a cord out there to power up the Telco box but not here. It did make me wonder how long it takes to recharge that battery. If it was an hour or so I might have taken a generator up there.

Yes, it's just that his symptoms on Friday and Saturday were unusual. I wish I could remember what they were. If they were usual, I'd figure he had something usual.

What would be the point of the test? I'm going to continue to avoid people and wear my mask when I can't avoid them, either way. for my sake and theirs.

I got my food delivered, partly to avoid people and partly because someetimes even if I'm up at 5:30, I don't feel like driving 20 minutes each way for food, as I've been doing.

I'll wait to see what he learns about himself and if he has or had it, and if he did, the odds are still low that I got it. 1 or 2% I think, considering so far I've had no symptoms. OTOH, if I do get sick, that's the time to see or talk to a doctor.

Plus I think there are still people who want to get tested more than I want to, and a line. If being positive for antibodies meant I was immune, that would be good, but that isn't decided yet. So it might make me lax for no good reason. I dont' even know if the test they are giving now, with no prescription, is for the virus or for antibodies. I think it's the first.

You can't do that with this virus because all the early symptoms are also seen with the common cold and seasonal flu.

If you test positive, you can self isolate so you don't infect anyone else.

Masks arent 100% effective. If you test positive you should avoid people completely and have what you must have like food delivered and left outside your front door so that you don't infect the delivery person.

That doesn't prove anything. A much higher percentage than that never show any symptoms but are infectious anyway.

That is correct. And you don't need a prescription for an antibody test

And that isnt. Plenty never develop any symptoms and some take much longer than that to develop symptoms.
