Bank lobbies re-opening?

Both of my parents are in the Gulf. My father went out on a 6 pack charter with a flag ceremony and a burial at sea. My Mom went into the bay behind her house with all of the family looking on. I want to go in the yard with my dogs. Yeah my daughter says she will never be able to sell the house.

That's exactly what I did with my grandparents.

In reality, not much different under the ground in a landfill or in an expensive cemetery.

I do have an urn, about 2" with some of my wife's ashes on my nightstand. The rest, ah, gone in a respectable manner.

Grandparents and mother are in a cemetery that I never visited and now I'm 1100 miles away so no, I'm not going to visit now either.

Except for the much lower cost of the bin.

Makes more sense to have the whole lot in the bin.

Me too, but I had no say in that. Dad too.

The body of a kid who chose to have me as his replacement dad and was killed by the cops is in the cemetery at the end of my street, No point in visiting that either.

He was killed by the cops when two of them were riding one of the little mini motorbikes illegally on the road with no helmets and the cops stupidly chased them in a car. Likely that ruined the cops lives too.

No, we still ride horses and have sheriffs and stuff.

When you use the drive thru, you get paper receipts.

I sent my bank a message a week ago about if they have plans to reopen the lobby. Have not heard from them.

I don't think they are any hurry.

I would recommend using a credit union instead of a regular bank.

They have lower fees, higher rates etc.

Not as many as in the past.

But I like socializing in person.

Society is getting too impersonal.

Everyone seems to be "always connected."

I frequently leave my cell phone at home to have some peace.

If I did not need my land line because it is needed for my DSL internet, cell phone would probably be all I would have.

On the other hand, a past hurricane knocked out some cell towers.

When meant the cell phones were down as opposed to land lines which have their own dedicated power.

A paper receipt is an option from the ATM at my bank (Bank of America). I can't say that's the case at every bank.

Use gloves. The scan of the check actually appears on the receipt.

I do too and don’t need to use bank lobbys to do that.

I'm not. I turn do not disturb on when sleeping, but that because I keep weird hours.

But go down the bank to socialise.

I still get a very few who don’t have my cellphone number. One more happened last saturday and I am glad I didn’t miss that one because a mate of mine who I have known since he was a high school kid was back in town and wanted to catch up while he was in town with time to burn.

Doesn’t happen here.

Out landlines are now all voip so they are gone on mains failures.

That's not exactly true. I can imagine it for other people, just not for me.

I actually point out the holes in the claims made by you and your ilk.

Yeah, me too because a mate of mine ended up that way, in his case in supermarkets rather than bank lobbys.

I did visit him at his home when he suggested that after he had been made redundant at work only to discover that he had turned into an alcoholic.

He was one of those at work who used to play bridge every lunch hour, but its not clear what happened to that after he had been made redundant, whether he still played bridge in peoples homes after that.

I agree. As long as things are going smoothly, you do OK online but when something is screwed up I feel better talking to a person who may be able to fix it right away instead of playing phone tag or email hell hoping someone at the other end really cares at all. I have a personal relationship with the people at my main bank and the times when I have had a problem, they took care of it right away.

I have 3 banks and a credit union. All of the ATMs offer a receipt. You can select no receipt tho. If I am just taking cash and it all comes out, I don't get a receipt. On a deposit, I take the receipt and keep it until I see the credit posted.

When I was in Guatemala in 1971, I was talking to a 10-year old girl and used the phrase "my bank" and she giggled. I thought, and later verified, that she was laughing because I said I had a bank and in Spanish that would mean that I owned one.
