Another thing I never knew the name of...

Did you?

Methinks they might better be called "sex-change bolts"

Do some work on rim mounted door hardware -- those kind of bolts are used all the time with totally smooth head on the exterior side of the door and the phillips head side installed underneath the cover plate of the hardware on the inside...

They also come in quite handy for reinstalling door closers after someone has beaten the crap out of the door and broken it off the door... With a wooden door there is really no other way to get as strong an attachment again once the original screws have splintered the wood and with metal doors it would require providing enough force to shear the 5/8" Grade 8 bolt you would use with the sex bolt OR enough to destroy the door...

I think I bought some of these at Lowes, and there was no sex involved.

I used them to replace missing ones on a sort of "modern" stained wood and leather but not really stuffed easy chair and matching footstool, maybe 20 or 30 years old. For a religious woman. I'm sure she would have had qualms about her hardare having sex in one room while she was eating in the next.

A lot of federal workers started out in the storm-door business.

Mine were brown.
