aluminum siding patch ??

Jul 29, 2004 1 Replies

We are getting replacement windows in about a month. We have a one floor ranch w/ type awnings I would like to remove the awnings in the next couple of weeks, before the windows are replaced. However I need to know what to use to patch the holes that will be left in the aluminum siding. I need both an effective patch and something that is ascetically pleasing. Currently the siding is a sun bleached yellow. We have plans to replace the siding in 2 yrs.

Thank you for any suggestions. ~Kat

Scuff the area around the holes with a wire brush and fill level with Bondo. Get a quart of color matched paint formulated for aluminim (trailers, aircraft, whatever) and apply per directions. A semi gloss may be best choice for blending. It won't be perfect, but at least it won't bother you to look at it. Good luck.
