When I began construction of our House In The Woods I installed an insulated steel door in the opening that now goes to the master bedroom because at that time that was an exterior wall . About 4-5 years ago I purchased a new flat panel cased luaun door unit to replace that steel door . Today I got around to installing said luaun door unit . Tomorrow I plan to start modifications to the hole in the dining room floor that leads to our cellar . I only made it 4 feet long and my wife is not so good at Limbo these days so I'm making it 6 feet long . I'm not as Limbo as I useta be either . Got about 1700 bf of circular saw rough cut 1X10 pine boards locked down for vertical B&B siding , to be installed when it warms up here . I need to find out if the wife wants it finished natural or stained ... I'm leaning towards a brown/gray color that is similar to the bark of the trees that surround the house .

Good for you - that you can look after such jobs. I thought I wrecked my knee yesterday just squatting to tighten up a kitchen faucet from below .. getting old really sucks. I'd suggest plane-1-side for the B&B - it will look better whether or not you stain. It's what I used for my 2 little garden sheds and the extra cost was minimal. If you rip the battens from the planed-1-side boards - they will look planed-3-sides because the table saw cuts are so much cleaner than the sawmill edges. .. a nicer look. If you're not convinced - try a small scrap piece and see what you < and the Missus > think. John T.
