The problem is with those who are infected who are symptomless or who only have minor symptoms, and who are out an about in shops etc, stupid.

Because people don't obey social distancing (the distance is greater when NOT wearing a mask, obviously, as ALL diseases have a "minimum infective dose", and masks reduce the amount of infected droplets). So they obviously DO have encounters with "Covid People" Otherwise it would have been eradicated from the US a long time ago. It all comes down to political competence. Remember the Obama Ebola pandemic? Nor do I. []'s

Really? I presume you're referring to infectious diseases not diseases in general and viral diseases in particular. How do you count the number of virus particles and since the virus particles need a "home"-- the number of receptors on the target cells-- in this case the ACE2 cells?.
There's also the question of active/inactive viral particles. I suppose that with SARS-COV2 you could sit in front of an electron microscope and go 1, 2, 3 ...etc. Despite the graphical representation (the red ball) when you see the electron photograph of the actual virus it looks nothing like that. Then again I have lots of difficulty reading my own chest X-ray so maybe it's a question of training.
Moreover this is not a static thing. Each breath you take can inhale massive numbers of particles so by the time you come up with a number it'll be useless unless it's 1 or some huge number. Most of the guesses I've seen are very tentative, full of passive voice estimates (e.g."it is thought that...")
The minimum infective dose obviously exists. It's been determined for numerous pathogens. (I remember reading a study about cholera, almost all water in India had the vibrium, but not many sources with enough to cause an infection) We've ALL had contact with the Covira virus,a single infected person breaths/coughs/sneezes out millions of viral particles a day. Yet not everyone gets sick. And where masks and social distancing are mandatory, infection rates are low. Not because the virus is not there, but because its numbers are low. It's math. If a person sneezes 100 yards upwind you will come in contact with the virus. Changes of infection = nihil.

Yes, a pandemic is a medical situation. It's why the State should deal with it. It's why the CDC and its equivalents exist. Private doctors are not trained in public health. Seems I'm finally getting though... []'s
OK if it is medical, why wouldn't a study of actual medical situations be more valid than people sneezing in a box?

I havent. There have been no known positives here for months and there have only ever been three known positives here, from the Ruby Princess who were known to self isolate properly until they recovered.
Zero in the substantial town I live in because we did a proper lockdown.
