New door bell w/ diode requires the button to be held down to play full chime?

A diode is a directional device and yours is installed the wrong way. Flip the ends of the diode in the push button, it should fix the problem. Right now the bell "thinks" the button is stuck.

Installed new electronic door bell (IQ America PC-7110). It only makes a brief sound when the button is pushed and released, but it works properly if the button is held down throughout the ring sequence. Visitors just press and release so we don't hear the bell. The button is very old and the new diode is installed. Can this problem be rectified??

WHen I add another chime down stairs the system is disabled
