Water heater drain dripping hot water

I have a thermal expansion tank connected to my hot water heater. The hot water heater is under 5 years old. I am having no problems with having hot water to use. I've noticed lately that the drain from the hot water heater going to the outside of the house is dripping hot water on a fairly constant basis. I had never noticed this happening before. Is this normal?

Whenever there is a leak of any kind it is a good idea to have a professional plumber come out and take a look. Unfortunately most water heaters these days last between 5 and 8 years depending on the brand and only if you are doing the regular flushing that is required once a year. Mike Counsil Plumbing has a great staff of plumbers that can take a look at it for you. Call 408-272-4900. It is better to be safe then to take a chance of having water damage or a bigger problem by letting it go. Hope this helps you with your question.
