Lighting problem

Mar 11, 2007 2 Replies

Fitted a set of 4 halogen lights (all one unit) which I got from B&Q. Followed instructions for fitting to the letter. At first everything seemed OK. However find that if the living room light is switched on it flickers and if the kitchen light is on it can flicker and has gone off. Everything comes back to normal when either light in living room or kitchen is switched off and then back on.

Obviously they are on the same circuit but all connections appear correct and tight any suggestions as to why the problem seems to occur some of the time but not all the time.

Which switch is the halogen light attached to, the living room or the kitchen or some other switch?

Firstly, are they the low voltage type lights? Where did you take the supply for the transformer from. Did you use the wiring to the original light fitting in the ceiling or from somewhere else in the circuit?

Are the new lights the dimmable type? If so, what type of dimmer switch do you have them on?

So many questions, and not enough information. Can you start by telling us what wiring configuration you have used, please. Thanks.
