Clean a book

did you ever clean an old book?

Yes. A rag squirted with a little ammonia cleaner (windex) works fine. Use something like a clothes brush to brush off any dirt/lint first. If a leather binding, you might use a LITTLE leather dressing to moisten it up a bit.

You can wipe several hundred books with a rag that has dried copper sulphate in it to prevent mildew/mold. Otherwise I just dust old books or wipe with a soft cloth.

why not use a mild hair dryer? and then keep those valuable books in a cupboard bolstered with camphor tablets. very useful.
