Hi guys, I have been completely residential for SO many years....Does this bedroom not require egress simply because it does not have a door? What if it had a 3' x 6'-8" cased opening but no door?

The UBC didn't require doors on "sleeping rooms" or bedrooms. Your bank might, the local jurisdiction might (but they'd have to pass it as an ordinance), but the code didn't require a door. In order to call it a bedroom (or sleeping room), it would require a window/door with egress to the outside.
Not worried about the required door, but the required egress window jojo
