Whirlpool error code F/dl means "Door Lock Error". It tries to lock the door for 6 times and if the switch that should close when the door is locked still did not close, it will display this error. There may be a problem with the door lock mechanism or the wire harness connecting to it may be unplugged or not plugged securely all the way in. The connection failure may be either on the Door Lock/Switch assembly end or on the Central Control unit end.
There is also a chance that the child safety device is ON (OUT) position and prevents the door from latching. It's below the door latch. Â
