I was looking at some of the new 2026 edition units at the store recently and noticed a lot of brands are pushing this "AI Air" thing now. I ended up picking up one of those LG dual processor models because the three-year warranty seemed like a good deal, but now that it's actually installed, I'm a bit confused. It doesn't just blast cold air like my old unit did; it keeps shifting the fan speed and the vent angle every time I move around the room. Is this realy what "AI Air" is supposed to do or did I just get a unit with a touchy sensor? Sometimes it feels like it’s barely blowing anything and then suddenly it ramps up for no reason. It’s supposed to be way smarter with the internal processing, but I’m mostly just wondering if I shold leave it on the auto AI mode or just go back to manual settings. Does anyone else actually find these smart features useful or is it mostly just fancy marketing to sell the newer editions?

The LG dual processor units use a combination of a motion sensor—usally a PIR sensor—and an inverter algorithm that they've rebranded as **AI Air** for the 2026 lineup. What you're seeing isn't a defect; it's the unit trying to follow you around or avoid you depending on the mode. These sensors detect body heat and movement to decide wether to blast the air directly at you or angle the vanes toward the ceiling for indirect cooling. It's basically a fancy version of the old 'Follow Me' feature but with much more frequent adjustments. Those sudden ramps in fan speed usually happen becuase the processor detected a change in the room's thermal load, like someone walking in or a door opening. The dual-processor bit is mostly there to handle the faster data polling from the sensors without lagging the compressor control. It's trying to maintain a very tight temprature window rather than the wider swings you get with older on/off or basic inverter units. I’ve been messing with the 1.5-ton DualCool Prestige lately. The 'AI' is basially just a glorified adaptive algorithm for the BLDC motor.
