Help ID wood

Have a Kitchen Aid mixer with a colander attachment. The rotating part is wood. Very durable and seems to be water proof. Wears like "iron". Pictures on ABPW.

My first thought is beech -- very commonly used for eating and cooking utensils, because it's hard and strong, and imparts no taste to the food.
