I bought a 2 pack of shoes from toolstation.com (

) thinking that I would get two pairs of shoes. They say that a two pack means two shoes. What do youi think?

"2 pack" means 2 pairs, in my opinion.

WTF buys shoes singly?

Print the page and take it to citizen's advice for starters.

Ring Trading Standards and ask them. Very nice people.

I think I would have checked before buying, especially at the prices quoted.

The last pair I bought were £10 so I had no reason too.

I think they are a bunch of clowns. A single pack would imply 1 pack containing 1 pair. Therefore 2 packs = 2 pairs. Take it up with trading satandards.

If you compare with other sites, the £18 figure is typical for a pair of unbranded safety shoes.

So conclusion is that their web page is misleading although it does say "safety shoe" (singular). OTOH the picture is a pair. OTOOH, it would be unusual for a shoe shop to offer two identical pairs of shoes for the price of one.

The question is what outcome do you want and how much time and effort do you want to spend on it.

If you interpret literally, then they should give you another pair of shoes.

However, do you really want another pair?

I think if it were me, I would point out the error of their ways and ask for a ten pound voucher.

You could pursue it with Trading Standards I suppose, but is it worth it?

I think technically they are right as there are 2 in a pack, but it is a bit misleading should read 1 pair to avoid confusion really.

I assume you *can* buy *sheds* singly, though!

If you buy a "two-pack", you expect two identical items - not one right and one left boot!

You should hold out for 2 pairs.

It's not the clearest of descriptions, but then again I haven't seen packs containing two pairs of shoes. And they sell _all_ of their footwear as "2 packs".

If you're looking for a remedy, why not just return the shoes and get a refund?

Looking through the site, they are at least consistent with other things that are in pairs, such as door handles, which are also described as a 2 pack.

The heading on the item clearly states "Safety Shoe" ( not Safety Shoes)

2 pack therefore is an accurate description of what you get.

Now - if you got two left foot ones that would be a different ball game !

Yes, they've given up with customer service and are 'pursuing alternative routes'!

Yes, my 10 pack of ear plugs were actually 5 pairs. They should really sort it out. Some things are just regarded as pairs and should be sold as such.

They have to be kept in pairs or they get lonely.

Imagine how much pleasure your pair of sheds would get if they were blessed with a little baby shed for christmas.
