It's considered good manners to declare an interest if you recommend your own site.
And if your sole purpose in posting was to recommend your own site, that's Commercial, which is prohibited in uk.d-i-y

But unenforceable. ;-)
HOWEVER, most regular reader here, myself included, would tend to disregard information from such people as a matter of course, if not permanently plonk them. On the basis that they are almost always in the business of recommending what they sell, not always what is best.
We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold. I remember williammwill saying something like:
That you're a spamming git.
Depends on how willing the ISP is to pull the account ;-)
Owain
its not spamming you wally, you provide good advice and then a backlink, mutually beneficial.
Hello Owain and Natuaral philosopher thanks for the advice i will state tha= t it is our site in future. However we are a local service company. We do n= ot sell products and the person wanting advice is miles from our catchment = area. Surely by allowing professional people to give high quality advice wi= th a signature backlink is how the quality of information on these forums i= ncrease. It is mutually beneficial.=20
many thanks william

What is and to whom are you talking?
My newsreader has expired the preceeding articles - could you please add some quoting for context...
The difficulty is that you are replying to a very old post that has expired from most news servers[1] - hence it does not appear in a thread, and we hence have no idea what you are replying to. This is not helped by you not quoting any of the post to which you are replying.
The nett result is that each and every one of your posts appear as a standalone posting containing nothing but promotional material for your business - which does look very much like spamming. I appreciate this is perhaps not how you intended it to appear, and you are also correct in assuming that representatives commercial enterprises are allowed to post information here. As it says in the group FAQ:
How can he? headers.. ==> Organization :
Infested by amateurs who think Usenet is a 'chat group'
