However, regardless of the actual stats, its easy enough to have the best of both worlds - RCDs to save shock injury, and enough of them to keep at least some lights on in the event of a trip.

I agree wholeheartedly...

The other thing to consider is that if one does worry about RCDs (i.e. ensure there are enough, and the circuits are sensibly partitioned between them, then you won't get nuisance trips in the first place.

Its a hazard caused by poor electrical system design. So the solution to the problem is better electrical system design, even if the hazard itself is not from electric shock.

(Hence why whole house RCDs have been deprecated since before the release of the 16th edition).

Huh?

Yeah but half of em are dribble and responses to his half arsed ideas.

Diybanter bods do seem to get somewhat unwarranted rough treatment round here... its not their fault if they find us via that route prior to discovering usenet!

Never eat the chocolate concrete. Don't even ask about the green custard.

Yes, falls are the biggest single cause of death in the over 75s -not just in the home but also on uneven pavements caused by vehicles parking on them.

It is best you say nothing.

But the law does not state you need multiple RCDs. Only one will do.

Yep, all available with rechageable batteries and come when a mains failure.

Again.."It is NOT an "electrical" hazard". No one will be electrucuted.

It that what you do?

This man is senile.

What if the energy was turned off to the electrical system - which is fine with say an RCBO on each circuit and all circuits split like lights and power sockets, etc. What "hazard" provision do you make for that?

Its easy to get over excited at his age I am told.

Wouldn't be a hazard in your place. Positively beneficial. Stop you posting all this s**te.
