PC Sound - TV - Cables

Ah yes, the spelling police; always the last resort of someone who has backed themselves into a corner and needs to change the argument quickly. What was that about looking thick?

Make that thick *and* tedious...

So you read *every* post in a thread before adding anything, keithie? I'll remember that next time you jump in with both flat feet on anything.

Besides, making your own cables ensures they are exactly the length you need. So no need for the untidy mess behind your computer or Hi-Fi etc that you obviously put up with if you insist on buying everything ready made.

Given the amount of messing about you do with audio gear I'm amazed you've not bought bulk packs of phonos etc off Ebay where they cost pennies per item.

Yes, I at least *skim* through them if I come across an established thread - doesn't anybody with any sense?

I'll

I'll tell you summat for nowt Plowie - any time you make a cable exactly the right length, a pound to a pinch it'll be too short in six month's time when it comes to TVs and PCs (as per the topic)...

Asittapens, I never have - I bought a pile of nice gold plated ones from the local hifi shop at 'get rid' prices a few years back and they've lasted me until now....

Then you make up a new one to exactly the same length, kitty. I thought you'd have known that.

Kitty? (You feeling alright?)

I thought

Then you've got two the same length and *both* of them too short - is that what you mean...??

How else would you describe yourself?

No John, that simply won't do - you are going to have to raise your game considerably to keep me interested....

(Perhaps you need more time to consider your responses if that's the best you can come up with in only 12 hours...??)

Some of you guys have such personal hangups that slanging matches ensue without any relevant info to the original post, I just cut the crap and skip the majority of these posts. Why don't you guys join "uk.rec.Is this the room for an argument" newsgroup. Can't see it listed on my news server, it may not exist so why don't you create it and take your bickering there.

A lot of posts arrive after the original question has been answered that offer alternative suggestions, these I value as much as the original.

Very wise - this instance notwithstanding, of course!! ;-)

No need - we already have it, it's called uk.rec.audio. (ukra)....

Except Plowie does it *ad nauseam* in ukra....

Exactly: a) and b). One reads these threads all the time; often picking up a good idea (or even confirmation of something already done) from some-body's suggestion or comment.

Simplistic and negative comments along the lines of "The question already has been answered" displays IMHO a bureaucratic rigidity and an inflexibility and smallness of thinking. ....... 'No talking in the ranks there. Sergeant: Take that man's name'.

Has nobody ever said "What WAS that idea for ............... longer cables?". Or, "What WAS that recipe for xyz .... ?".

That anyone has even to explain this is pathetic. Share ideas, something brilliant; like radar, the jet engine, the steam turbine, steel making or penicillin might emerge from one person's suggestion to another!
