Follow up - Another Renotherm question....!

Hi all

Just an update really...

Well, I spoke with the structural engineer yesterday - and his first reaction when I mentioned foam was ' no....!' - but I showed him the certificate of agrement info, and said that Renotherm said they would fix any problems with the roof first. He then went quiet - and said he could not honestly think of any good reason why not to use it.

I checked with Ronotherm and they told me the foam is breathable - so even though the timber in my roof is not rotten, if any damp did ever get into the timber then it could still breath.

I have also challenged the company with the issue of tiles craking in hard frosts... and am waiting for an answer....

Regards, Simon.

There is nothing wrong with spray foam insulation. There is a lot of prejudice and ignorance against though.

Clearly you've not tried turning the slates on a roof that's been foamed.

Now Simon, I know you're a sensible sort of bloke. Do you really need any more convincing? Isn't this recommendation from IMM enough to tell you what you should do?

Well, that's the first good word I've heard about it - apart from a salesman. All even vaguely qualified people in the field of house construction hate it. So I'll draw my own conclusions about your real occupation.

You can spay it against felt and the tiles are free. It has a BBA certificate.
