recommendation for refrigeration roof-top a/c ?

Desert home (~1500 ft=B2) needs refrigeration to replace swampcooler over livingroom. Does anyone have a rooftop self-contained referigeration- cooling recommendation?

Many Thanks, JP

You need a professional to come out and conduct a heat gain load calculation on the space ; its bad to just use a rule of thumb guess instead of doing it accurately and professionally. Many different variables including skylights , insulation, cathedral ceiling or attic space, south exposure , climatic design criteria, size of existing ductwork , et al... Theres alot of manufacturers too : Goodman or Rheem if on a tight budget or Carrier or Trane if not ... and many in between .

I don,t even see how those can function unless your roof is silver.

Even here, my southern brick get really hot.
